Note from the Author

If you are here, was it, curiosity, chance, or a need you couldn’t quite name? What I do know is that arriving anywhere is rarely accidental. We move through the world shaped by circumstance, but it is how we listen to it, resist it, and interpret it that gives it meaning. This book, “When I Realize I Am A Tree, Will You Sit By My Side?" is an invitation to do that together.

Poetry has been my way of navigating what does not always make sense. When language fails in daily life, it returns here, fragmented, honest, unguarded. These poems are not meant to explain the world, but to sit inside it: to observe, remember, and endure.

As an opera singer, I have spent my life learning how emotion lives in breath, silence, and sound. Poetry became a parallel voice, one that exists beyond the stage, beyond performance, where nothing needs to resolve. Each poem is a moment of attention, a place where memory and presence meet.
If you find yourself reflected in these pages, it is not coincidence. This work is unfinished without the reader. Meaning happens in the space between us.
